Stress is a one main cause of acne. It causes hormone secretion from the pituitary gland, and in turn that stimulates the adrenal gland to produce androgen, which then produces sebum. Sebum is known for clogging pores and thus the cause of this type of acne.

Another cause of acne is cheap cosmetics. It is known that poor cosmetic choices over a period of time will result in clogged pores and resulting in acne. Many women choose poor cosmetics and this is another leading cause for acne and other health issues. So, always choose good quality cosmetics such as MAC so that your won’t succumb to facial acne.

Hormones are another big cause for acne and will be discussed now. The reaosn for teenagers to get alot of acne is because their hormones are on fire and doing all kinds of irregular things. The main cause in teenagers is the sebaceous gland. If you look at females its even worse. A week or so before their menstral cycle they have alot of estrogen and it appears on their face as oily skin. Women that are 40 or older may stop producing estrogen and thus have better looking skin.

Lastly, birth control pills and other medication cause acne in adult females. Some birth control pills and medication might help a females skin but usually make it produce more hormones in turn making more clogged pores. If any medicine or birth control is causing acne, please see a medical professional to see if it can be remedied.

Everyone knows that the acne problem is most common in the 15 to 21 age group. But it is not only the problem of the teenagers today. Various factors have contributed to the development of acne in adults as well. Adult acne is becoming more common by the day.

People in the twenty to fifty age groups are also likely to go through a similar phase of flare ups. The effects of acne on an adult could be the same as that on a teenager suffering from it. But since adulthood holds much more pressure from the need to balance family and work, this additional problem of acne may seem bigger.

One of the major reasons for acne to show up is hormonal imbalance. Although this happens mostly in teenage, hormonal changes may occur in adults too mostly in women. This can be attributed to stress that follows today’s lifestyle. Considering the pressure that women today undergo trying to do justice to both career and home, such hormonal changes are only natural. In addition of course, women naturally experience these changes during their pregnancy and also when they are undergoing their menstrual cycle.

Adult acne has other causes too like the kind of lifestyle followed. A wrong dietary habit can influence this. Also drinking and smoking habits can reduce the skin’s immunity to acne flare ups. In addition, external factors like the pollution levels in the atmosphere, food and water may cause such eruptions.

Although adult acne can be successfully treated by various methods, it would only be wise to take steps to prevent it from occurring. That is, leading a life with a good diet and enough rest can make it happen. Also Keeping the skin clean and caring for it well will go a long way in protecting it from all such problems.
