Acne-related Problems You Would Not Want to Experience Again

December 20th, 2011 No comments
There are many acne-related problems that have a deep impact on our lives more than we can ever imagine. From the moment your body entered puberty stage, there has been a lot of changes in your body that are being laughed at by people who do not understand them. It is bad enough that you had to endure acne problems during those times, too, but it is even worse if until now you still have issues with acne.

Many people have a diminished self-esteem because of acne-related problems that have left a mark in their lives. For example, while you were supposed to be reporting in class, a large zit had popped up overnight and during your report most of your classmates were busy pointing it out than listening to what you were saying.

Another example would be going to the school dance with an unfitting lock of hair to cover the pimple on your forehead so that your date would not notice. Your classmates warned you that boys do not like pimples, so you hide it even at the expense of your own appearance.

You may have used different kinds of acne treatment, but it seems that none of them could help you go through a single important event without having to shy away from people. Perhaps the problem is that you are not trying an acne treatment long enough to see results? But then again, don’t wait too long because that would be a waste of time and money.

Even when you are already working, a pimple can still ruin your style. When you have a pimple on your face and you are supposed to meet people, you can’t help but feel that they are noticing it every once in a while when you begin to tell them something important.

Instead of focusing on these things, you have to focus on finding the right acne treatment for your problem. An acne treatment may work on some skin types and not on others, so you should first check out whether it works on your skin. Always make sure that you will not have any problems when it comes to the use of the product. If it leaves a weird feeling after application and you need to go out to meet some people, it may not be a good choice. Furthermore, you also have to consider your budget. Unless you are willing to do away with one or two of your beauty products, try to avoid too expensive items.

Acne on the Chin

June 30th, 2011 No comments

Acne on the chin is often much harder to get rid of than acne on your forehead or on the sides of your nose. There are several ways to get acne on your chin, and you might not even be aware that your own habits are leading to zit developments in that area.

What is chin acne?

Chin acne “features” a number of different types of acne. First, you’ve got your average pimples. These are little whiteheads that creep up in number and are usually pretty tiny. They’re the most tempting to pick at, let’s put it that way.

Then, there’s the pustules. These have a little more sebum and pus-like fluid in them. They might be more inflamed than regular pimples, and they probably hurt.

Finally, we’ve got cysts. These are very common occurrence during your acne on the chin breakouts, but they’re nonetheless very painful. They’re almost impossible to pop, as you might not even get a whitehead poking out at the top.

acne on the chin

How do you get chin acne?

You get chin acne in a number of ways, but perhaps the most likely is by rubbing against it and resting your chin on your hands. It might seem unlikely, but believe me, the irritation and pressure is plenty enough to cause acne to creep up.

Then, there’s the hormones to blame. Acne on the chin is often spurred during a girl or woman’s period and during high hormone peaks, or during ovulation. Men tend to fluctuate less, but it’s especially high if you’re going through puberty or have moderate to severe adult acne.

If you wear a helmet with a strap a lot, this can also cause acne on the chin. If it rubs or builds up with sweat in between the strap and your chin, you could get quite a few outbreaks on your chin.

How do you get rid of chin acne?

Don’t be surprised if you find that your cleanser and regular benzoyl peroxide applications don’t work with acne on the chin. This is tough to get rid of.

You might need a doctor’s appointment to get a prescription medication such as retinol or tretinoin cream, higher doses of benzoyl peroxide, tetracycline or birth control pills. I don’t necessarily recommend taking the prescription route, but sometimes it’s the only thing that works.

You can also try to quit touching your chin so much. Apply some spot treatments, then let it dry and keep your hands off! Just make sure you sleep on a pillowcase you don’t care about, as it might stain.

Acne Meds – Cutting Through the Confusion

How do you know which over the counter treatments are the most effective? It would be so good to know these things BEFORE you get your first breakout of pimples, don’t you agree?

Finding the best acne treatment for you can be so confusing, what with the plethora of information through advertisements not to mention the helpful advice of our family and friends. Everyone claims to have the ‘miracle cure’ which promises to get rid of your embarrassing pimple problem overnight… or sooner! Still, the best advice remains to consult your doctor or dermatologist before taking this potentially serious matter into your own hands. If not treated properly, acne is a rather complicated condition which can deteriorate rapidly, leaving you with unsightly lifelong scars.

What Kind of Acne Do You Have?

The first thing you’ll want to do is find out exactly what kind of acne you have. All forms of acne are not created equal. Some are far more stubborn and difficult to get rid of than others. Also the treatments will vary depending on the type of acne you have. This is why professional help is so important. You want to be absolutely certain that you are going after the right issue before you start attacking it with random over the counter medicines.

Keep in mind that everyone is different. What works for your friend or even other family member might not be right for you. In fact, that very treatment could even make YOUR condition worse. Therefore you are well-advised to obtain a proper diagnosis before you potentially waste your time and money on non-prescription acne treatments.

It’s important to know that different acne treatments react differently when even the smallest variables change. You are unique. No one else has your exact body chemical composition. Just this one factor alone will make your results different than anyone else, even though you are using the exact same treatment. Depending on your condition, you may need a product to deal with the infections resulting from acne. Other products specialize in suppressing sebum production. Still other are physical or chemical scrubbing agents that strip off the top layer of skin thereby minimizing the chances for bacteria to go undetected and flourish. You’ll get an idea of how a particular product is supposed to work by reading the list of active ingredients.

Some Effective Acne Ingredients to Look For

If you require a peel, you’ll want to look for products containing benzoyl peroxide. This solution promotes the growth of new skin cells while clearing your pores. By using this treatment you can reduce the risk of infection simply by decreasing the level of bacteria on your skin. You’ll want to start with a mild concentration of 2.5% to be sure that your skin can tolerate this treatment. If necessary, you can later advance to stronger concentrations once you are certain you won’t have any adverse reactions to this product.

Another product which removes surface skin cell build-up is salicylic acid. It performs in much the same way as benzoyl peroxide in that it stops your pores from clogging.

If you are looking for a product that has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, those containing Melaleuca or Tea-Tree oil might be worth investigating. However you should be aware that many over the counter products don’t have enough pure Melaleuca oil for them to be effective as a healing ingredient. You may be fooled into thinking you are getting full benefits just because this element is listed on the label. As insurance, you may want to find a reliable source of pure essential Melaleuca oil and add several drops to your current cleansers and creams.

Research shows that pantothenic acid, a B vitamin, is necessary in order for co-enzyme A to be effective. Co-enzyme A determines the production of hormones and fatty acids. While studies were too small to come to any decisive conclusions, they were just compelling enough to make it worth looking at pantothenic acid as a potential acne treatment supplement.

Acne Treatments – We’ve Only Just Begun

Please keep in mind that although they do improve the condition of the skin by relieving the symptoms and reducing infection, none of these ingredients alone treat the underlying causes of acne.

The best advice remains to seek a correct and accurate medical diagnosis before spending your time and money on any over the counter acne medicines. Armed with the right information, you can then confidently choose the best acne treatments that are most likely to benefit you.

Can Pizza and Dairy Products Cause Acne?

December 21st, 2010 No comments

These are very important questions; does the pizza/acne or dairy/acne connection exist? People who want to do everything possible for better skin need answers. When I want answers I start with what has been validated by science. What causes acne? First and foremost are the hormones and the action that they have on the sebaceous glands. The hormones cause these glands to secrete more sebum (a natural oil produced by glands under the skin) than is needed. This would only cause oily skin but if the p. acnes bacteria are present in the hair follicle, zits will begin to form.

The problem arises when these bacterium that cause acne consume the sebum and in the environment that exists under the skin, the bacteria are able to colonize, causing an inflammation under the skin and the development of a zit.

So hormones are the first cause and the second largest cause are dairy products. This group includes milk, cream, sour cream, ice cream, butter, cheese, etc…

What’s in dairy products that precipitate pimple breakouts? It is the hormones in the milk. Have you ever realized how strong a calf is at birth and how fast it matures? The milk for the baby calf is concentrated with substances like hormones that enable a baby cow to grow quickly. When dairy is in your body it mimics the same hormones that are present in elevated levels in the blood of a teenager in puberty.

I would also like to mention that stress does have a direct relationship with acne. It is important to know what is true since acne and pimple myths abound. Make it your habit to research what you hear so you truly know what your limits need to be.

Returning to the initial question, “Does Pizza Cause Acne?” A good neutral question would be, “Does the pizza have cheese on it?”

When someone wants to discover whether or now dairy products are affecting their skin they should do an elimination diet.

This would include the elimination of all dairy products from the diet for 2-4 weeks. Care should be taken to avoid hidden dairy items in foods like soups, crackers, salad dressings and other process foods. You would most likely find dairy on the ingredients list in the form of milk, cheese, whey, dairy cultures and other names that may be foreign to you so you may want to become familiar with the names that dairy products can take when they are listed on an ingredients label.

If possible it would be best to not go out to eat during this time of the elimination diet.

In only 14 days you may begin to notice a lessening of the frequency and severity of your acne breakouts. If not you can try eliminating dairy from your diet for another two weeks.

“Does pizza cause breakouts?” and “Does dairy cause acne?”

Yes, absolutely.

November 27th, 2010 No comments

The most important part of the body that speaks volumes about our persona is ignored most of the times. Here we are talking about the face which is ignored and taken for granted. Everyone wants skin that is smooth and flawless, a la diva to be precise. The appeal would only happen when you take good care isn’t it? Acne seems to be the biggest culprit, which hinders the glow from appearing and sad yet true, one in every three people have acne and scars that ruin their self esteem.

But all hope is not lost, there is a solution to get the entire rigmarole out of the way and make acne disappear over time. Medications are for serious acne issues, or else try azelaic acid with a cream mix.

If you are facing acne related issues and the doctors may have advised the use of a mild soap, because it has azelaic acid in it which would kill the acne and get them removed over time. The bacteria that build homes in your skin cells are killed and the growth is stopped, hence this anti bacterial formula works wonders if you want to get your facial treatments done the right way.

Many are advised to have a lot of wheat and barley grains in their diets, since azelaic acid is present in them. If you suffer from a skin disease as common as ROSACEA, then use the potion to help you through. It would not only help getting the skin treated well, but would also improve the skins condition on a long term basis.

It is no wonder a popular base for most skin treatments, since azelaic acid is an essential part of most skin and beauty related products. Always pick up a product that suits your face and one which has azelaic acid in them. Uses the amount sparsely, do not overdo the usage, it is not an overnight quick fix deal, so have patience and over time watch the difference. Make sure you eat healthy, have a lot of berries and veggies which contain anti-oxidants to help you through and finally don’t forget to use a mild face wash or soap and wash your face twice everyday.

Yes you read it right! Acne can be treated at home with a facial and a few very simple steps and precautions can save you a lot when it comes to getting a spot treatment done. The most important step is to lessen the use of chemical treatments on your skin to the natural ways and getting that flawless look with a variety of acne treatments at home Along with taking good care of your skin, eating healthy is of prime importance too. Your diet should have a lot of fruits and vegetables especially those leafy kinds which are rich in minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants that help you restore the vigour and vitality to gain that youthful you again by closing those ugly pores.

November 26th, 2010 No comments

If you’re like most people, chances are that you buy a variety of anti-acne products only to find out which one works for you, and, then, throw away those that don’t. So, how do you stop wasting your money by finding out right away if a product is effective?

Below are some of our suggestions for you:

Tip #1: Seek the Advice of Your Friends

If a product works for your friends, then, there’s a great chance that it will also work well for you. But of course, only seek their advice if you’re pretty sure that you’re suffering from the same type of acne that they have. Otherwise, the product won’t work that well for you.

Tip # 2: Research on the Internet

Another way to find out pretty quickly if a product works for you is by doing your research on the internet. There is plenty of advice that you can find in different websites and blogs that will help you decide for yourself if a product’s good for you or not. However, keep in mind that there are some pieces of information that you have to take with a grain of salt. So, make sure you have enough research before buying a particular product.

Tip #3: Seek Your Dermatologist’s Advice

Now, if you really want to be able to tell if a product is effective, you can seek your dermatologist’s advice. Why? That is because your dermatologist will look into your skin in order to see the type of acne you have. From there, he will, then, determine the type of anti-acne product that would work well for you. Of course, it will cost you money compared to the previous tips that we shared with you, but you can be sure that the product you pick will actually be effective. There you have it, the things that you need to know if you want to know easily if an acne product is effective. They are by no means set in stone, but they do help you increase your chances of getting rid of your acne problem sooner and this is especially the case with the 3rd tip.

But It’s Not Always About Speed

Most of the time, however, how quickly you’ll get relief isn’t as important as getting everything right the first time. That’s where a holistic approach towards acne comes in. A holistic approach gets right into the heart of your acne problem so, you can get rid of your acne not only quickly but for good as well. Aside from that, a holistic approach emphasizes the use of natural products to battle acne. The result is that you become acne-free without the painful side effects found in most acne solutions products. Acne, if not treated, can become a major problem. This disorder while not just affecting young people and teenagers is probably a major psychological problem forall suffering with it. Mild cases will usually clear up with out treatment if diet and fastidious washing and cleansing are observed. For the moderate or serious cases there are a great variety of treatments available. If you do a little research, you will surely find just the right treatment for your condition. Some of the more common treatments available are listed below.
Retin-a cream for acne
One of the lower cost treatments is the Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System. The manufacturer claims that this system has a combination of therapies for acne-prone skin including skin polishing acne cleanser, sun shield and day lotion. There is a lotion which is used overnight to kill bacteria and treat inflamed skin and help to prevent additional problems. Acne occurs under the skin where it is usually not detected for weeks before a breakout becomes apparent. So, prevention is always better than waiting for the problem to become visible.

Another product is the Proactiv Solution 3 Step System Kit. This system contains a two month supply of their essential Proactiv® Solution system. The manufacturer claims that this system was developed by dermatologists and if used as directed will help to heal and stop breakouts at their source. There is a cleanser to remove excess oil, a toner for skin balance and a repairing lotion to help attack bacteria. This is one of many systems that contain a variety of ingredients to clean the skin, remove oil and attack bacteria. A little research will help you to choose the right system for your condition.

While many of the treatments are lotion or cleanser based, one such treatment, Verilux ClearWave Deluxe Acne Light, claims to use the power of light to stimulate the bodys natural processes to help clear skin. This system claims that by using blue and red light waves similar to the sun’s rays, and which do contain harmful UV, bacteria will be removed and inflammation of skin pores will be reduced. The suggested treatment is to use this special light source for 15 minutes a day for 12 weeks. They further claim that this will replace the use of topical creams and other antibiotics. Goggles should be worn while using this light system.

Effective Acne Treatment

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

It’s not at all uncommon for people today to need to deal with acne concerns in the course of their teenage and grownup lives. You should not worry if you are still battling with acne: you will find a tried and tested strategy you can utilize to overcome your acne and start loving your fresh, blemish-free skin.

Your skin does not need to be an ongoing concern. There are now long-term, effective ways of caring for acne and getting rid of it once and for all.

Nearly all the people I have communicated with are annoyed with trying products that simply don’t work. There are undoubtedly rows upon rows of pimple ointments and solutions at your nearby pharmacy, all claiming to “zap zits” easily.

Exactly why don’t these items succeed? It is easy to understand: they won’t deal with the cause of the problem. All they do is try and reduce pimples one zit at a time.

Consider how silly this really is! What is actually the purpose of attacking a pimple when it’s now popped up and not finding anything to really treat the triggers of the problem?!?

That’s not a long-term remedy and it leaves hordes of folks frustrated. A large number of people quickly jump to the conclusion that acne cannot be treated and practically give up.

Acne can be solved – you just have to make sure you care for the root triggers!

Exactly how is this done?

You have to get a complete treatment solution “system” to be able to ensure that each one of the triggers are cared for. Below are the principal causes of acne:

1) Acne-Causing Bacteria

2) Inflammation of the skin

3) Excess oil on the skin (caused by overactive skin glands)

4) Skin Pores that are clogged

All those four issues are the top “enemies” any time you are fighting with acne. The treatment method you decide upon should target each one of them, should you are going to triumph over your battle.

It perhaps seems somewhat straightforward, and in fact it clearly isn’t brain surgery. In all honesty though, the major companies never generate products that do that since they just want to keep generating profit, and the one approach to accomplish that is to perpetuate acne issues and thereby have individuals purchase their goods.

Thankfully, there are established treatment systems which were specially engineered to touch on every one of the earlier mentioned triggers. By doing so, they’re ready to achieve results in a matter of days and do away with acne on a permanent basis.

While searching for a treatment method, be certain that it targets the problem from all facets. Normally these treatments will involve at least one or two steps and more than one product. This is certainly the sole way you will get the benefits you are worthy of.

Please do not become frustrated if you’ve tried out other products prior to now that have not proved helpful. There are actually proven systems out there, but you may need to look over and above your neighborhood pharmacy’s display. After you’ve discovered the perfect treatment, you will have the capacity to ditch all the others and love your beautiful blemish-free skin.

Vitamin B Treatment for Acne

August 27th, 2010 No comments

Are you suffering from acne and looking desperately for the best acne treatment? Are you completely disillusioned with various acne remedies and are yearning for a clear skin? Are you fed-up of experimenting with various acne treatments and have not yet found the ultimate cure for acne? If your answer is yes, then this article is for you. This article is especially for people who have suffered from acne with years and are still looking for the best acne treatment. Acne is extremely problematic as it attacks our face and is visible to all the people around us. It causes embarrassment as every person you meet makes it a point to ask questions on it, offer solutions, offer sympathy, when actually you want none of it. All you want is a cure for acne.

Acne needs to be treated holistically as it is caused due to certain malfunctioning in the body. It can be your hormonal imbalance, stress, overactive oil glands or any other reason, but the bottom line is that acne has to be treated as if you are treating your body. Because acne is not a disease and is the side effect of some malfunctioning, you need to correct the malfunctioning. This would automatically take care of your acne breakouts and treat acne permanently.

Vitamin B has been found to be a miracle vitamin to treat acne. Try first to understand the complex role Vitamin B plays in your body and how it can help keep you acne free. When we talk about vitamin B we mean a mix of vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12 and vitamins Inositol, Choline and Biotin. These vitamins cause re-growth and regeneration of skin cells, hair and nails. For a healthy and acne free skin the dead cells need to be shed off and a new layer of skin cells replenish the old one. In case of any deficiency the regeneration process would retard causing acne breakouts and wrinkles too.

Another common reason for acne breakouts is a bad digestive system. Vitamin B is known to be excellent for good digestion and it regulates the metabolism of the body. Vitamin B helps in producing hydrochloric acid in the body that helps in the digestion of the food we consume. Any deficiency of vitamin B in the body would impair the digestion and cause acne breakouts.

Vitamin B is very vital for the body to be healthy as it helps in maintaining the immunity of the body and the perfect functioning of the nervous system. Deficiency of vitamin B can easily cause external factors to infect the body and cause acne. Vitamin B helps give your muscle an even tone and keeps the skin healthy.

Now let’s see what all food items you should include in your daily diet to consume vitamin B as naturally as you can. Try adding legumes, green leafy vegetables, bread, red meat, egg yolk, whole-grain cereals, brown rice, yeast, berries, milk, cheese, peas, potatoes, peanuts, fish, Soya bean etc. If taken in the right quantities you would discover that you can find a lot of positive results by focusing on vitamin B for acne treatment.
