Panic Disorder Symptoms
It is possible that you are suffering from a panic disorder but don’t really know that you are. This disorder is characterized by frequent panic attacks, which leaves a mark by affecting the person psychologically. This condition happens quite suddenly that those experiencing it for the first time mistake it for a heart attack. To avoid this mistake, and to really know what you are suffering from, learn about panic disorder symptoms to help you differentiate the two from one another.
Heart attacks take place when the heart is strained, whereas panic attacks are caused by your mind. When you start hyperventilating or breathing heavily, these trigger the symptoms of a panic attack. Another thing is heart attacks can kill you, while panic attacks can’t, however this doesn’t mean that this disorder isn’t a serious problem because it is and if left untreated, it can take over your life.
Symptoms during an attack of panic are quite similar to those for the heart as many suffer from chest pains, problems with breathing, numbness in the left arm, and tingling all around the body. The two have very similar symptoms from one another, but you need to know how to differentiate them.
When experiencing an attack in the heart, chest pains are isolated in the center and it has a crushing feeling, like heavy weight on top of the chest. This pain is normally persistent and extends to the left arm, neck, or back lasting longer than 5 to 10 minutes. Those who suffer from this don’t have difficulty breathing and don’t hyperventilate, and often times this attack is coupled with vomiting.
When suffering from an attack of panic, chest pains are focused over the heart and feel like sharp pains that isn’t constant. With heavy breathing, the pain becomes stronger and presses more on the chest. Although vomiting isn’t common, feeling of nausea is possible and if there is a tingling sensation, it can be felt all over the body. Hyperventilation is also expected to occur when this attack takes place.
Keep these panic disorder symptoms in mind so that you can help yourself if these attacks start taking place. Heart problems are more serious in a sense, but suffering from panic can also pose a serious threat in your life when it starts disabling you from doing your activities. Best to treat this problem before it gets the best of you.
