Homeopathy Herbs For Gout Patients

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Gout is an auto immune inflammation that is initiated by the needle like urate crystals which formed due to the high concentration of uric acid in the body fluids. Gout can occur in the tendons, joints, and the surrounding tissues.

Among all treatment options for gout, prescription drugs are the more common and easily available solution. Most patients are advised to change their lifestyle and diet to minimize the possibility of the returning of the awful gout attack.

Recently, homeopathy is becoming a more and more popular alternative treatment sought after by most gout sufferers. Case studies has shown positive results for some of the herbs, and it works better when taken together with any other suggestions by medical professionals, especially the essential change of diet and lifestyle.

Herbal treatments for gout are divided into two groups, herbs for the relief of gout inflammation or pain and herbs to reduce the uric acid level. Herbs for pain relief are taken during the attack which is targeted at minimizing the symptoms of the inflammation while herbs for uric acid reduction should be taken daily over a long period of time.

Among the herbs recommended to be taken at the time of attack are devils claw which helps to relieve the swelling and pain associated with gout. Bromelain which is taken on an empty stomach serves as an anti inflammatory agent. Dandelion root cleanses the body of excessive uric acid.

Herbs for reducing the uric acid level are more as dietary supplements than medicines as they tend to have cumulative effects in detoxifying the blood. Alfalfa helps to reduce the amount of uric acid in the body while red clover prevents severe gout related problems.

Keep in mind that homeopathy is a treatment or therapy that requires a long period of time to show its effectiveness. Thus, you must be patient and persevere when going through this alternative treatment, do not expect some instant result as those given by modern chemical drugs.

Despite its slow reaction, homeopathy treatment could be the answer to the ultimate gout cure which many are searching for. It takes some time to reduce the uric acid level in your body until a stage that you will not suffer from any more gout attacks.

Drink lots of good water and follow are healthy diet is one of the most effective ways to keep gout away. Include those recommended herbs to your diet as supplements and it will definitely help to eliminate gout completely when combined with the right foods.

Lose Back Fat

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Learning how to lose back fat can be one challenging task. This is because back fat is one stubborn area address and usually people mistake working out the back muscles as solution it when in fact, it just will not do the trick.

Others decide to deal with their back fat problem by wearing baggy clothing in order to hide the excess fat on their backs. This is not the coolest way to face the issue and the truth is that you cannot hide in your clothes forever. Time will come when you need to remove your shirt and let the world see what you have been hiding all this time. Knowing how to lose back fat effectively will help you gain back that confidence so that you can go shirtless anytime, anywhere.

So if back exercises will not help you in dealing with your back fat problem, then what will? The logic behind back exercises not being of help in this particular issue is that doing back exercises can possibly build muscle under the layer of excess fat, thereby making your back appear fattier and without actually doing anything to eliminate the original predicament. There should be a holistic approach which will address the excess baggage you have in your back as well as promoting a healthier lifestyle in order to maintain that great look for a long period of time.

How to lose back fat effectively? The best method for losing back is to decrease the level of your total body fat percentage. This means that you have to lose body fat in order to decrease the amount of fat that is present in your back. This is an essential goal for totally eliminating back fat from your body. Once this is done, you can now start toning your back with proper fitness regimen.

By fitness regimen, that means proper exercise. And not necessarily back exercises. Since your first goal is to lower your body fat percentage, then your regimen should include strength training which involves the whole body. This particular regimen will also allow you to build lean muscle which is the ultimate route for lowering your body fat percentage. To build lean muscle, you need to have a healthy eating lifestyle and a regular exercise schedule. This is a natural and a very effective approach in learning how to lose back fat.

For your workouts, try to include strength training for you large muscle groups like your legs, your core, and your buttocks in order to achieve better results. Doing this will effectively speed up your metabolism and decrease the amount of your body fat percentage.

Of course, learning how to lose back fat entails you to also watch what you eat. A lot of people ignore this part and think that working out is the only way to go. Most people think that when they are trying to lose fat, they should starve themselves and deprive their bodies of food. This is not what is supposed to be done. To speed up your body’s metabolism in order to lose body fat, you need to small amounts of food more frequently in a day. That is, six small meals a day. The body needs good nutrition and depriving it of food will just make things worse. A healthy, balanced diet that is rich in protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals will always be a good diet to go with your fitness regimen.

Natural Remedies For Mild Depression

June 30th, 2010 No comments

I recently gave a talk on how to lead a happier more fulfilling life to a gathering of over a 100 people and one of the questions that came about was about depression.

Q. Does one need to seek medical help if one is suffering from depression?

A. Of course by all means one should seek help if one feels that he or she is suffering from depression. Often we don’t know whether the cause of depression is clinical or environmental. If the cause is clinical, medical intervention is necessary.

In some cases an external factor, such as a loss of relationship, child, job, health may lead to extreme sadness which if not checked in time will lead to depression. It is therefore imperative that we try and pull the person who is going through extreme pain/sadness out of his or her misery.
Mexican prescription drugs
Living with a person who is going through depression can be very distressing and often as a means of self preservation we tend to repudiate their feelings by trying to tell them to snap out of it. For those of us who are not experiencing the same emotion it is unfathomable how a person can be so low and not have jest for life. When such a situation occurs we need to adopt a caring attitude instead of becoming judgmental.

Often people end up in depression because they blame themselves for a particular outcome. They feel if they had done things differently the particular outcome could have been avoided. Anger and guilt towards the self is what leads to depression. For this situation to be avoided it is important that we as well wishers support the aggrieved person in any way we can.

A listening ear and a supportive attitude do wonders.

Try and gently insist on some kind of physical exercise. It helps if you can accompany them on the exercise regime. Long walks in nature do wonders for both the body and the spirit. Walk with awareness and appreciation. Try and get out of the mind and bring a child like wonder into the walk. Look out for butterflies and notice the smell in the air. Take long and deep breaths and thank your body for being alive. Regular exercise is one of the most effective and inexpensive ways to improve mood. Exercise, particularly aerobic exercise, releases mood-elevating chemicals in the brain and can decrease stress hormones. Even though one of the best options to bust the blues is taking a brisk walk outside each morning for at least 30 minutes five days a week, what’s important is that they choose something they enjoy and will stick with, whether it’s going to the gym, signing up for dance classes, playing tennis, or gardening.

The added advantage of morning walks is getting enough sunlight which has been shown to be effective for seasonal mood changes that happen in the darker winter months. Exposure to light in the morning helps the body’s sleep/wake cycle work properly. Production of serotonin, a brain chemical that is key in influencing our mood, is turned on in the morning upon exposure to light.

Involve them in various activities; take them out for light movies/comedies/concerts.

Add omega 3 fatty acids and St. Johns wort in their dietary supplements. Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of good fat needed for normal brain function. Our bodies can’t make omega-3s on their own, so we must obtain them through our diet. Studies have linked depression with low dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

The herb St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) has long been used in folk medicine for sadness, worry, nervousness, and poor sleep. Today, the results of over 20 clinical trials suggest that St. John’s wort works better than a placebo and is as effective as antidepressants for mild to moderate depression, with fewer side effects. Studies suggest that St. John’s wort is not effective for major depression. It’s available at health food stores, drug stores, and online in the form of capsules, tablets, liquid extracts, or tea.

St. John’s wort may take 4 to 6 weeks to notice the full effects. Side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, indigestion, and fatigue. St. John’s wort increases photosensitivity, so extra caution should be taken to protect skin and eyes from sunlight. Although St. John’s wort appears to be reasonably safe when taken alone, it can interfere with the effectiveness of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, such as antidepressants, drugs to treat HIV infections and AIDs, drugs to prevent organ rejection for transplant patients, and oral contraceptives.
Canadian pharmacy lexapro
St. John’s wort is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, children, or people with bipolar disorder, liver or kidney disease. Magnesium and vitamin B6 are also natural mood lifters.

Create an atmosphere of joy and happiness, but I understand that in some cases of extreme loss, this may not be possible. What I recommend is to have soft music and some sort of aroma (lavender, jasmine, rose and clary sage have been found to be beneficial) in their place of abode. Certain musical frequencies, especially mantras have a very uplifting effect.

Always remember that if a person is really depressed, he or she will need to see a qualified person. The above are just a few things that we can do to help our loved ones come out of extreme sadness or pain caused by an external factor.

Organ Transplantation

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Surgery to replace some damaged body organs with healthy ones is now a routine, and several thousand of such operations are performed every year around the world. Healthy replacements come either from people who have consented (or whose surviving relatives consent) to the medical use of parts of their body after death, or from living donors who are usually related to the person needing the transplant. Many state and national medical organizations will provide organ donor cards for those willing to donate their vital organs. Such organizations also help physicians to locate suitable recipients for donated organs.

organ transplantation

The major problem with organ transplantation is that the body’s immune system treats any transplanted organ as if it were an infecting organism and tries to destroy it through the action of white blood cells and antibodies (immune system). An ideal transplant would have tissues identical to those of the organ it replaces. An organ transplant between identical twins, carries no risks of rejection because the tissues of such twins are a perfect match and do not provoke a response from the body’s defense system.

Corneal transplants are another exception. They “take” easily because the cornea has no blood supply and therefore lacks the rejecting weapons of white blood cells and antibodies.

Donated organs are matched as closely as possible to the patient by tissue type but a perfect match is almost impossible. To prevent rejection of a transplanted organ, the body’s immune response must be counterbalanced by treatment with immunosuppressive drugs. Until recently this treatment carried great risks because the drugs had serious, sometimes life threatening side effects and their dosage had to be calculated with a precision that was difficult to achieve. The drugs reduced resistance to infection, tended to encourage the growth of malignant tumors, and sometimes damaged bones and other organs.

However, the development of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporin has revolutionized organ transplants. It has so improved the survival rates of patients who have had transplants. The side effects of cyclosporin are less dangerous than those of the immunosuppressive drugs previously used, and its introduction has meant that other immunosuppressives can now be given in much lower doses or in some cases. omitted altogether.

Consequently, many more transplants are now being carried out and as a result, surgical techniques and expertise are continually improving and the success rates are correspondingly higher.

In addition, better methods of preserving and transporting donor organs, so that they arrive quickly and in good condition, have also contributed to the greater success of organ transplants. Moreover the increased publicity given to transplant operations has resulted in greater public awareness of the need for donor organs. The greater availability of donor organs (although there is still a shortage of some organs) also gives surgeons the chance to do a second transplant it the first operation fails, perhaps because the organ is rejected.

Chiropractic Treatment

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Low back pain can be the result of many many events. It can be a work related injury, an automobile accident or bending over to pick up a child or a piece of paper. Regardless of the cause, chiropractic can really help. By performing a complete physical exam and some diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, an accurate diagnosis can be achieved. It is then that the course of treatment is decided.

Office workers are just as likely to suffer from low back pain as an athlete is. While the cause of the pain for an office worker may be the chair they are sitting in or the posture they must practice while working on a computer, the athlete may be hurting due to the impact of their running on hard surfaces in improper shoes. It doesn’t matter where or when it happened, what matters is the ability to do something about it.

At any time, over thirty million people in the United States is experiencing some level of back pain. It is the most common complaint of patients who consult with a chiropractor. By using controlled decompression and manipulation, the chiropractor can get the spine in proper alignment and the results can be felt much sooner than the numbing effects of muscle relaxants or narcotics. By educating the patient on proper ergonomic techniques, further injury may well be prevented. One of the many goals of the chiropractor is education.

This education can be as simple as teaching posture or stretching techniques. A client can be taught how to perform the proper exercise without expensive equipment. Using a treadmill on a constant basis can cause injury from the impact just as easily as running a mile. By learning techniques the tread mill user can prevent or lessen the possibility of injuries on a daily basis.

Chiropractors do not use only manipulation as treatment. Ultra-sound, ice, heat and other modalities are also used. It depends on the cause and the severity of the pain. A simple regimen of exercise along with routine visits to the chiropractor will aid in living a healthier pain free life. Chiropractors have also become the first choice of many who have low back pain because of the successful treatment that you can receive. A qualified Doctor of Chiropractic will refer you to a medical doctor if there is any doubt that your mode of treatment exceeds his/her expertise. It just makes sense to begin low back pain care with a conservative method than jumping into care that can further impair your daily activities to a point of missing work for a longer period or not being able to perform common tasks around your home.

Have Arthritis?

Your Own Responsibility:

I would like to spend a little time discussing the importance of looking after your own health needs rather than depending solely on someone from the medical profession, to wit: sound nutrition and supplements. Seriously, who truly has a better interest in your health, you or some third party? I submit that you do, or if it is not you that it should indeed be you.

Who is Responsible for You?

To illustrate the validity of my contention I will share with you something I just heard on a television news station today (May 25, 2010). Donald Berwick, the nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, has been quoted as saying:

“We can make a sensible social decision and say, ‘Well, at this point, to have access to a particular additional benefit [new drug or medical intervention] is so expensive that our taxpayers have better use for those funds.’ We make those decisions all the time. The decision is not whether or not we will ration care; the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

So, as a simpleton detective I would have to ask you, the jury, did you get it? “…the decision is not whether or not we will ration care–the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.” In other words, there is no doubt in his mind that healthcare will be rationed; and he, as the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will apparently set the policy concerning rationing.
Taking Responsibility:

Again I will ask you; if your body is racked with arthritis, and you need help for either a relief or a cure, and you cannot get in to see your doctor due to healthcare being rationed, what is your alternative? I suggest that the best alternative would be to not need the medical care in the first place. Sometimes, whether or not we need care is something out of our own control; but if there was a way to take it under your own control wouldn’t you want to know about it?

I have some great news for you! I too once suffered from arthritis and thought that I had no control over it. I did not even think there was an option for me. Fortunately, one day I accidentally got a good insider tip from a medical doctor. She told me how I could take control over my own arthritis problem by taking control of my nutritional habits!

As she suggested, I removed sugar from my diet and quickly found relief from arthritis by taking bad stuff out of my diet and putting good stuff in. You also have the right to choose how you will supply your body with the right nutrients and you can easily cut back on sugar with herbal supplements that stop your cravings. I suggest that you take control of your diet as soon as possible so you can stop being controlled by arthritis.

And to start your research, don’t be afraid of herbal supplements. In my search for the right supplements, I found that many countries require clinical proof of their effectiveness. Australia is such a country. Suns Natural LLC manufactures products with ingredients clinically proven and certified in Australia. These products usually are compatible with most medications, but you should consult your doctor. Suns Natural LLC’s products offer guaranteed effective natural pain relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Gout, and many other pain causing injuries and conditions.

Cure Tonsil Stones

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Tonsil stones or tonsilloliths are tiny little deposits at the back of your throat that do not really affect your health, but they have a huge impact on your life. These deposits start out as gobs of matter and harden to form calcareous stones if they are left undisturbed in the mouth. They are the source of a foul smell that can really disrupt your life. You therefore have to look for ways to cure tonsil stones so that you are rid of them forever.

These small little stones offer anaerobic bacteria a safe haven from where they can create the gases that cause bad breath. If you do not immediately cure tonsil stones, the bad breath will only get worse and you will find it increasingly difficult to get rid of the bacteria. Bad breath is something that other people are very unforgiving of because they take it to mean that you are lacking in personal hygiene.

There is also a chance that the tonsils can get infected as a result of having to harbor this foreign substance for a long time. If you allow the problem to deteriorate to the point of infection you may be left with no option but to get your tonsils removed. Apart from being expensive, this is a procedure that will require you take time off work and it will cause you a lot of discomfort and inconvenience.

The negative effects of tonsilloliths are not limited to bad breath. You will also suffer from a chronic sore throat and will have difficulty swallowing. Over time you will have difficulty sleeping as well and you will suffer from coughing bouts.

Some people have a greater tendency to suffer from tonsilloliths. If you are one such person, you have to keep a close watch on the back of your throat so that you can spot new tonsil stones forming. You have to get rid of them immediately before they get to be really big and smelly.

It makes a lot of sense to cure tonsil stones the minute you notice them at the back of your throat because it costs far too much to handle them if they are allowed to become big. You should find out the various ways you can prevent them from happening again and you should follow these steps without skipping anything. This is the only way to cure tonsil stones permanently.

Lumbar Back Pain Cure

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Suffering from lumbar back pain can be a debilitating condition and for those that have never experienced it, you are in the minority. There are many causes for lower back pain and there could be several reasons for the onset of the pain however even simple routines like sweeping the floor can activate the condition.

The back is strong but when it gets damaged, the pain is real and can last for a long time. When you have a back injury, the results can be different depending on the person that experiences it. While one person may have extreme amounts of pain from an injury, another with the same injury may not have any discomfort at all. This is because the root cause of the pain is not the injury. It is the inflammation and tightness that is affecting the nerves in your back. It is possible to treat these conditions with exercises for back pain.

You must focus on what is truly causing the pain and discomfort. If you can eliminate the nerve pains and or tissue pain then you can live a pain free life while managing your back condition. The chances are very high that the lumbar back pain that you feel today was caused by many years of physical abuse to your back muscles, spine and your pelvis. These are all dysfunctions that take time to build until one day the pain begins to break through. When your muscles in the back, buttocks, upper legs, shoulders and hips begin to weaken or become extremely tight, the result is pressure that causes your spine and pelvis to be out of line. This happens over a span of many years so the affects are not always seen immediately.

When your spine and hips are out of alignment they force your muscles to work in ways that they were not designed to work and it can lead to injuries and nerve related issues. Muscle imbalances force your body to pull and push in an effort to make it perform properly. When you fix the imbalances that are causing the pain then you will find that you are pain free and living life as you did before the lumbar back pain began.

When you start to exercise the back pain will leave and you are sure to feel better. Using muscle balance therapy to help with lumbar back pain is a great solution. This takes the treatment right to the source of the problem. Many of the more common treatments like exercise for back pain and medications simply treat the results and do nothing for the cause.

If you deal with the root cause, you will not have trouble with the dysfunctions that have been accumulating over the years. When you exercise for back pain you will be targeting the muscles that are too tight or too loose and that are leading to the imbalance. The weaker muscles will be strengthened and the tighter muscles loosened up.

When your doctor prescribes medication to help with your lumbar back pain, it is intended to help with the immediate pain and symptoms and does nothing at all for the cause of the pain. That is why you must treat your back pain by attacking the cause. There is a way to do it and to get your life back on track. You must simply be committed to getting the job done.

One popular lumbar back pain exercise that has helped many people find the relief they are looking for is called an extension. It requires you to lie on the floor in the face down position and to extend your feet as far behind you as you can. You should use your arms to slowly lift your head up and arch your back as far back as you can. Push up until your elbows are locked and be sure to keep your hands down to your sides. Stretch your head back as far as you can. This exercise will stretch the lower back muscles and loosen any tight spots.

Another great exercise for back pain is to lie down on your back. Bring your knees up and keep your arms flat on the ground on each side of your body. Slowly lift your buttocks up off of the ground so that your pelvis is thrust up as high as possible. Extend one leg up into the air and straighten it. With the leg straightened, lower the buttocks to the ground and begin again. These lumbar back pain exercises can target the root cause of the pain, the imbalance. When you focus the treatment on the cause of the pain, you will recuperate in no time at all.

Acne Prevention

June 30th, 2010 No comments

Acne, universally named “zits” or pimples, is a condition of a skin that causes blackheads, whiteheads, and irritated red lesions (cysts, papules, and pustules) to form. Acne normally occurs near or in the sebaceous glands such as neck, upper back, face, shoulders and sometimes appear to arms, trunk, buttocks and legs.

It is said that 85% of individuals are suffering of that disease nowadays. Acne can be seen widespread among adolescents, but it can also occur at any age, even to newborns! The source aforementioned that three out of four teenagers to some extent, most likely caused by hormonal changes that increase oil production. On the other hand, people at 30′s and 40′s may also undergo acne.

But how can we get rid of this? Acne treatments may vary for the reason that the type of skin a person has differs from the other. Always remember that the best cure for you could not be considered as a great solution for the other person. It is important to consult a dermatologist. Let me give you some topmost self-care steps to lessen the effects of acne.

First, clean your skin with appropriate yet mild, non-drying or glycerin soap. This will have a big impact on you as what other people testified positively. However, keep away from scratching, rubbing, picking, squeezing your pimples. It can lead to skin scarring and infections. Also, do not wash your face excessively or repeatedly because it will damage your sensitive skin.

In addition, applying cream or gel in your hair can cause acne. It is best to shampoo your hair everyday especially if it is oily. Avoid using tight headbands. Comb your hair back to keep it away from your face. The strands of your hair may trigger acne.

Another way of treating acne is by using acne creams. It can be use like any other cream. Companies are offering these kinds of creams in the market. Be sure that the kinds of creams you are going to purchase are free from oil, sunscreens and comedogenic elements.

Lastly, another method is acne light treatment – a safe and complete method. It is a popular way to clear acne by using ultraviolet rays. It is the same with tanning booth – you just need to take a bath for around 15 minutes in the ultra violet rays daily.

For some cases that have severe acne, the best methods mentioned above may have not meet one’s expectations. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Oral Hygiene

June 29th, 2010 No comments

Oral hygiene is very important as everyone would like to have clean, white teeth and fresh breath as well. This article deals with some oral hygiene instructions that can make a remarkable difference to your oral health and make you more confident when speaking or smiling.

Oral Hygiene Instruction

It is essential that you clean your teeth both in the morning and the evening with a soft, small headed toothbrush with fluoride toothpaste. Over and above this you should use a dental floss or any other interdental cleaner between all of your teeth and also where the tooth meets the gum. But brushing alone is not the solution to good oral hygiene and so you could follow the recommended instruction.

• Brush your teeth twice with fluoride toothpaste of high quality.
• Children should clean their teeth after every meal if possible.
• Clean between the teeth everyday with floss or an interdental cleaner. It is here that most of the decay causing bacteria still lingers and the toothbrush bristles cannot reach. Interdental cleaners also remove plaque and the food particles from in between the teeth and under the gum line as well.
• Make sure that you eat a well balanced meal and also try and limit your between-meal snacks.
• Try and visit your dentist and dental hygienist regularly for professional cleaning and oral exams. You could visit Dr Michael Adams.
• Make sure that you replace your toothbrush every 6-8 weeks or even sooner if the bristles are becoming frayed. A worn out tooth brush is of no use to you as it will not clean your teeth well.
• Children’s toothbrushes are softer and get worn out much faster so you might have to replace them sooner.

How to Brush?

• You need to place the bristles at a 45 degree angle to the teeth.
• Brush with gentle pressure in a circular motion so that any plaque which is growing under the gum can be removed.
• Brush the inside surfaces of the upper and lower teeth by tilting the brush in a vertical manner and by making several small up and down strokes with the front part of the toothbrush.
• Make sure that you brush the outside, tongue sides and also the chewing surfaces of the chewing surfaces of all your teeth.

How to Floss?

• Start by taking a piece of floss about 30cms in length.
• Wind this floss around your middle finger and take hold of ½ inch of the floss tightly between the thumb and the forefingers.
• Insert this floss in between your teeth carefully.
• Hold the floss taught and then curve it round one side of the tooth.
• After this move the floss up and down against the tooth and then move on to another.
• The main purpose of the floss is to remove the film of plaque that is present on your teeth and not just stuck food particles.
• Then using a new piece of floss continue flossing tooth surfaces, even those that don’t have a tooth next to them.
• At the end rinse your mouth thoroughly to remove the loosened particles.
